Mick Jagger was in Georgetown Guyana tonight

Mick Jagger

So about 10 of us Peace Corps volunteers are sitting at Palm Courts tonights drink some beer and this guy walks in. I’m like, whoa, that’s Mick Jagger, and the first reaction I get is “Why would Mick Jagger be here in Guyana?” Yeah, I really didn’t know, and then it struck all of us, it was him. Of course the first reaction from not just us, but everyone in this tiny bar (and even folks in Guyana know who he is) was to buy him a beer, or take his picture, or talk to him, something, anything. So Annie goes up to the bar and offers to buy him a drink, originality on my part for the suggestion, and he turns her down. She comes back to the table and of course his refusal deflates us a bit. What deflated us even more is when he and his two friends leave. Damn. What the hell was he even doing in Guyana at 11 pm on a Thursday? Ohhhh…the West Indies vs. South Africa match, that’s what. He was here with a tall brunette (Bianca? I have no idea what she looks like) and a balding fat guy. It was really surreal to see him, but there he was. Cool.
