Congrats on the invitatoin,
I should be going to the DR as well, with the first stop in Miami. I am on the fence about the decision, but I will have everything finalized on Monday. What’s your name and where are you from? Why are you doing the Peace Corps, and how long have you thought about it?
I’m from Colorado and I am working in Costa Rica. If you get this soon, I would like to hear your answers.

Hi Everybody,
I’m glad I’m finding all this stuff via the web. I’m also scheduled to go to the DR in september for HIV/Nutrition. They told me around september 5th, but I have yet to recieve my staging packet. I can’t wait to meet all of you in person. Oh yeah, what are you all packing? It’s so hard to decide what to bring and what not to bring!

hey, sorry i just applied to the peace corps and am a little anxious to start the whole process, you know interview and stuff. did you guys want to go to the dominican republic, i mean why do you think you were selected to serve there? you speak spanish, are you familiar with the area, did you say you have a particular interest in that region? i’m nervous! :O/

Hey guys. I just finished my service in the Dominican Republic. I worked in economic development in a town near Barahona. It was the greatest experience of my life, and it will be the same for you guys. You all have made the right decision. Plus, the DR is one of the best places to be a PCV.
One word of advice…dont bring all the stuff the invitation booklet tells you to bring. Women wont need five skirts and guys wont need five pairs of slacks.

For those who have come back…are there any packing tips you could share? I’m still undergoing medical screening (grrrr) but I’m on my way somewhere…let me know how it went or is going.
