One Day, Six Hours

February 24th, 2005 by Jason Pearce.

Believe it or not, it took me only one intense day to develop ThirdGoal.com. It’s an empty (but powerful) shell of a website that is just waiting for Please Corps volunteers to begin using it.

In less than six hours after launching the site, we have our first registered user: Art.

Welcome Art. I hope you enjoy Third Goal and begin using it to blog your Peace Corps experience.

I’ll also use it to blog my experience in Ukraine, assuming I will have some sort of Internet acccess.

That’s great Clem. I hope you get a lot out of this service. I’ve traveled to more than 40 countries and have always found access to the Internet.

Many Peace Corps volunteers take a couple of floppy disk drives with them. Often you might find access to a computer that doesn’t have Internet access. You can then record your thoughts in Word or Notepad so that you may paste them later into your blog when you visit a city or your Peace Corps office.

USB key drives (jumpdrives) are also a good way to go. They are smaller, more durable than floppies, and are accepted by most Windows, Mac, and Linux machines.
