Pacific Island Experiences

I’m interested in being assigned to a Island in the Pacific so I’m looking for somebody to tell me about their experiences. I’m really interested in hearing about your first 6 months and your final 6 months.
I curious to know about how you learned to deal with a completely new environment: the emotional, physical, and mental struggles you experienced; the ups and downs of the living situations you had, the people (oh the people); and more importantly, what was your dealing strategy and how do you think you finished your assignment.
