Can you change your mind?
March 20th, 2007 by JessPon.I accepted an assignment to Zambia departing in June, but discovered that for the MBA program I want to do I need to have fluency in major world language. Does anybody know can I ask for a new assignment in a French speaking of Portuguese speaking African country?

What did your placement officer say?
I do know someone who (long ago) backed out of an assignment. However, she quit the Peace Corps totally. I can’t imagine them looking nicely on you if you already accepted, but you won’t know until you ask.

Unless you already speak Spanish or French you won’t be assigned to a French, Spanish or Port. language-based country. You may be able to get into some non-English based countries with a min of 1 year college language. If you already have the language skills speak with your placement officer about availability. You may end up waiting longer to depart.
