April 19th, 2007 by kllarsen.Hi there! I just got my assignment for Micronesia/Palau leaving the first part of September 2007. I’d love to chat with anyone who may also be headed my way, or who has been/is there, to pick your brain! kllarsen@hotmail.com

Hey,
I’m actually Palauan, so if you wanna ask about anything in particular, feel free to holler.
Best,

Thank you for responding Nikita. I’m not sure that I have “specific” questions, rather a few general ones, i.e. lifestyle, dress, food, how to interact such that I am accepted and can do good work, etc.
When you state that you are Palauan, were you born there and still reside there? Are you in the U.S.?
Thank you again for your time! I can also be reached at my e-mail address of kllarsen@hotmail.com. I look forward to learning more from you.

Hello Kathy,
I recently left Palau as I was the Peace Corps volunteer who was medically separated from Palau because I had a bad ankle injury. One thing I can say about Palau is that it is a beautiful and exotic island, as you can probably already see. It will take some time to get the Palauan vernacular down but once you do, the rewards from it are well worth the time and effort that you put into it. Because I was there for only seven months, I don’t know everything but I can tell you a few of the things that go on. So when ever you get the chance or whenever you have a question just drop me a line and I will reply. Well hope you guys are enjoying training and remember to always take pictures because Palau is one of those places that you will see something new everyday.
Best wishes,
Jerrod M. Compton
