Advice, thoughts and feelings about the Peace Corps
January 31st, 2007 by lewis_aw.PLEASE READ, HELP A GUY OUT. Hello everyone, my name is Aaron and I am a junior in civil engineering right now at the University of Idaho. The other day I sat down and thought long and hard about what i want to do after college is all over and done with. I had heard about the Peace Corps many times but it was just another name without a meaning, lodged away in some corner of my head, until about one week ago. My recently married cousin, whose wedding i attended, announced at her reception that she will be going to eastern europe with the peace corps for 27 months. This was some exciting news, and i made sure she had my email address so we could keep in touch. This opened my eyes a bit to the Peace Corps. Also this last month we had our first Engineers Without Borders meeting at U of I and i talked a bit with some professors who had experience in the Peace Corps. So for the last week, as I have said, i have been trying to really see what the peace corps is about and i really think that it would be an amazing experience getting to help people the way the peace corps does it. So this is where i have my question. Could anybody out there who is, was, or is going to be a volunteer through the peace corps please tell me about your experiences. I figured this would be the best way to really get to know the peace corps, all its praises and its knocks. so please, any and all information would be helpful. Please email me at lewis.aw@gmail.com. thank you very much for your help.
