Countdown has begun

February 8th, 2007 by missvy.

Hey all, new to this site here.

My name is Vy Nguyen and I’m 24 years old, just got my nomination last week to serve in the Peace Corps.

Serving in the Peace Corps has been a dream of mine for a long time now, I started thinking about before I even finished college. The recruiters on my campus did a deng good job, since University of Washington just took the no.1 spot for producing the highest number of PCV from University of Wisconsin - Madison ^.^

At this point, I’m still waiting on my medical clearance kit but I’m a pretty healthy young woman so I don’t really anticipate any hurdles there. But who really knows, it took me awhile to finally feel that I was ready enough to take on this adventure and ever since I got my application it has been one crazy event to the next.

Despite all the crazy stuff going on in my personal life, I’ve been able to take it in stride and look at it as tests/challenges on my desire to serve. Nothing has managed to compromise it yet ^.^ If all goes according to plan, I’ll be departing in June to somewhere in Eastern Europe. Cheers!!
